  1. README.TXT  -  Instructions for Installing DIR3D

  3. 1) Unzip the DIR3D12.ZIP file into a single directory on your
  4. hard disk and run the SETUP.EXE program to install.
  5.  
  6. 2) When installation is complete, run DIR3D from the Windows
  7. 95 Start menu or Windows NT Program Manager group.
  8.  
  9. 3) Delete the installation files from the directory on your
  10. hard disk once you have verified that DIR3D runs properly.
  11.  
  12. Un-Install utility will be placed on your hard disk as part of 
  13. the normal installation.  See the file UNINSTAL.TXT for more
  14. information.

  18. Problems and Solutions:
  19.  
  20. DIR3D starts, but says a DLL is missing, and then stops.
  21.  
  22. Try moving these four files out of your Windows/System directory
  23. and then reinstalling.  New copies of the four files will be 
  24. added to your system, which should cure the problem.  The files
  25. are: MFC40.DLL, MSVCRT40.DLL, GLU32.DLL, OPENGL32.DLL.

  27. DIR3D starts, but is too slow.
  28.  
  29. Go into the Options/Display Speed menu item on DIR3D and select
  30. every item.  This will give you minium detail and maximum speed.
  31. Then reduce the size of the DIR3D window to about half of the
  32. screen width.  This will be as fast as the 32 bit graphics will
  33. run on your machine.
  34.  
  35. DIR3D runs, but I can't hear the background music.
  36.  
  37. Shut down DIR3D and try playing a MIDI file by double-clicking
  38. the DIR3D.MID file name from within Explorer/File Manager.
  39. Windows should launch the MIDI playback utility.  If not, go into
  40. the control panel and install the MIDI sequencer device that 
  41. matches your sound/midi card.

  43. I can't read the individual file names in a directory.
  44.  
  45. Select the File/Display Detail menu item in DIR3D and click OFF
  46. the check box labeled "Show File Detail."  This will result in
  47. larger file names when directory detail is displayed.
