- Problems and Solutions:
-
- DIR3D starts, but says a DLL is missing, and then stops.
-
- Try moving these four files out of your Windows/System directory
- and then reinstalling. New copies of the four files will be
- added to your system, which should cure the problem. The files
- are: MFC40.DLL, MSVCRT40.DLL, GLU32.DLL, OPENGL32.DLL.
-
- DIR3D starts, but is too slow.
-
- Go into the Options/Display Speed menu item on DIR3D and select
- every item. This will give you minium detail and maximum speed.
- Then reduce the size of the DIR3D window to about half of the
- screen width. This will be as fast as the 32 bit graphics will
- run on your machine.
-
- DIR3D runs, but I can't hear the background music.
-
- Shut down DIR3D and try playing a MIDI file by double-clicking
- the DIR3D.MID file name from within Explorer/File Manager.
- Windows should launch the MIDI playback utility. If not, go into
- the control panel and install the MIDI sequencer device that
- matches your sound/midi card.
-
- I can't read the individual file names in a directory.
-
- Select the File/Display Detail menu item in DIR3D and click OFF
- the check box labeled "Show File Detail." This will result in
- larger file names when directory detail is displayed.
